To care for your lashes, be sure to follow these guidelines:

1. Keep them Dry for the First 24 Hours

Allow your new eyelash extensions to set for at least 24 hours before getting them wet. For maximum retention, it's best not to shower, swim, visit a sauna, sweat heavily, or wash your face during the first 24 hours. Should you need to use eye drops, extra care should be taken to prevent moisture from coming into contact with the extensions.

2. Be Gentle

Don't pull or rub your eyelash extensions. Excessive pulling, tugging, or rubbing is not only hard on the delicate skin around your eyes, but can cause your extensions to fall out prematurely, as well as damage to your natural lashes.

Avoid touching your extensions with your fingers. This can transfer the natural oils on your fingers to your lashes and cause poor retention. To set your lashes back into place, you can use a clean spoolie wand to gently brush them.

Avoid using makeup wipes or cotton pads directly on your lashes. These materials can snag on your extensions and pull them out.

Never use eyelash curlers. While it might be tempting to add some extra curl, using a curler can actually damage both the extensions and your natural lashes. If you are looking to add more curl, we have a variety of curl options to best suit your needs.

3. Approach Mascara with Caution

Because mascara can clog your lashes and cause clumping, it's generally best to avoid it entirely. If you do decide to wear mascara, make sure it's water-based and oil-free. Never use waterproof makeup since it is difficult to remove.

4. Read Product Labels

Do not use products with oil or glycol (specifically Polyethylene Glycol, Hexlane, or Propylene Glycol. These ingredients can break up the adhesive and cause your lashes to fall out prematurely. If you must use products with oil or glycol, avoid the eye area and especially around your lash line.

5. Clean Lashes = Happy lashes!

It's very important to keep your lashes clean to prevent buildup from makeup, oil, and debris. Dirty lashes can lead to irritation and infection. At the end of each day, use an oil-free lash shampoo to clean them. If you have oily skin or exercise frequently, we recommend washing your lashes twice a day (after your workout and before bed). The cleaner your lashes are, the better your retention will be!

Be careful when drying your freshly cleaned lashes. Use a lint-free towel to gently blot the moisture out. Allow your lashes to air dry before brushing them.

6. Brush Your Lashes Daily

Use a spoolie wand to gently brush your extensions as desired to maintain the shape. We recommend carrying some in your bag so you can adjust your lashes throughout the day. Brush your lashes from the top in a downward motion. Never brush them side to side or upwards like you are applying mascara. This can tug on the base of the extensions and cause your extensions to fall out.

7. Sleep on Your Back

Sleeping with your face pushed into your pillow can cause your extensions to fall out more quickly. Instead, try to sleep on your back for ultimate eyelash extension maintenance. If you're a habitual stomach or side sleeper, we commend investing in an eyelash extension safe eye mask.

If eye masks aren’t your thing, try sleeping on a silk pillowcase! Unlike other fabrics which may tug and pull at your lashes, a silk pillowcase will allow the lashes to glide over the pillow and prevent damage.

8. Avoid Excessive Heat

Too much heat can make your lashes lose their shape. If you're getting a facial, make sure the esthetician knows to keep the steamer away from your eyes. If you're in a sauna or steam room, cover your eyes with a towel. Be cautious around other heat sources, such as ovens. They can singe your extensions.

9. Keep up with Maintenance

To maintain the fullness of your eyelash extensions, as well as the health of your natural lashes, we recommend getting fills every 2-3 weeks to keep your lashes looking full and beautiful. Fills are designed to replace any lashes that have shed or grown out.

10. Don't Try to Remove Them

If you no longer wish to wear eyelash extensions, schedule a removal. Attempting to remove them yourself can cause damage to your natural lashes.
