What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are comprised of individual synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied onto individual eyelashes, one extension at a time to lengthen and add fullness to your existing natural lashes. The result—you won’t believe your eyes! You will have instant volume along with long, luscious lashes.

Am I a good candidate for eyelash extensions?

You must have natural eyelashes for this procedure. We can only apply eyelash extensions to existing natural lashes. The more natural lashes you have, the fuller the finished look. Extensions should not be applied on individuals who have recently completed or are undergoing chemotherapy, have alopecia, or who suffer from trichotillomania or trichosis. If you have any eye condition where the eye does not look healthy or have an adhesive or latex allergy, you are probably not a good candidate for eyelash extensions.

What are the benefits of wearing eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions lengthen and give more fullness to natural lashes. They create the appearance of a brighter, more open and rested eye, resulting in a youthful and rejuvenated look. For clients with lighter toned natural lashes, eyelash extensions can darken the appearance of your natural lashes and provide more density. Above all, the main advantage of eyelash extensions is how much time you can save during your beauty regimen. Eyelash extensions provide a low maintenance daily routine. Spend less time with makeup, and say goodbye to mascara! Look and feel your best from the moment you wake up, with little to no effort.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

When properly cared for (see aftercare tips), your extensions will last until your natural eyelashes fall out. Most people lose about 3-5 natural eyelashes per day. When your natural eyelash is ready to shed out of the follicle, both the natural eyelash and the extension(s) will fall out together. In turn, a new lash will grow from the root, and new extensions will be applied during a fill.

How often should I get a fill?

We recommend coming in for a fill every 2-3 weeks, depending on your desired level of fullness. The majority of our clients come every 2 weeks. If you take proper care of your lashes, coming every 3 weeks for a fill should not be a problem. If you are more particular about the fullness of your lashes, it would be best to come every 1-2 weeks. The longer between fills, the longer the scheduled service will be.

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?

Eyelash extensions are carefully curated to maintain the strength and health of your natural lashes. The extensions are applied away from the base of your natural lashes, avoiding contact with the skin. When properly applied and cared for, they will not harm your natural lashes.

Are eyelash extensions comfortable to wear?

Absolutely! Our lightweight design ensures that your new extensions will feel like they are your natural eyelashes. Our technique and ability to accurately attach a single eyelash extension or volume fan to one natural lash ensures you will not feel any discomfort. Also, the adhesive is flexible which allows the extensions to move with your natural lashes, even in a wind gust.

How many eyelash extensions are in a full set?

Depending on how many natural lashes you have and the service you choose, a full set application usually consists of 120 to 150+ extensions/volume fans for each eye. The results are astonishing! We have undergone rigorous training to be real artisans when it comes to the application of your full set. When customizing your lashes, we take into account your face shape, eye shape, eye placement, and brow arch to create a unique look for every client. The result? A personalized eye-enhancing look.

What if I'm not sure which full set to book?

No problem! Book a complimentary consultation with us. We will discuss what best fits your needs and answer any questions you may have. Please note that every full set already includes a consultation. If you prefer not to book a separate consultation, please book the full set you are most interested in. Make sure to book for the full set that is longest to ensure there is sufficient time for the style you ultimately choose.

I had my eyelash extensions applied somewhere else. Can I come to Transcend Beauty Bar for a fill?

Absolutely! Because styling and technique vary by salon, we require all clients to book an "Outside Salon Fill". We will conduct a consultation and analysis of your lashes. Depending on the condition of your extensions, we may recommend a removal and a full set.

How do I prepare for my reservation?

Please arrive with no eye makeup, creams, or serums on the day of your service. The best retention and results come from maintaining and cleaning your lashes daily. If you arrive with eye makeup on, residue, oils, buildup, etc., we cannot apply eyelash extensions on your natural lashes. If this is the case, we will provide a relaxing lash bath at the beginning of your service for an additional cost. This will ensure that you leave with a beautiful set of lashes. If you wear contacts, please bring your contact case and solution, or wear glasses the day of your service. Feel free to bring headphones and listen to music or a podcast during your service. Caffeine can make laying still difficult, so please avoid consuming it on the day of your service.

How long will my service take?

If you are scheduled for a full set, the service will take anywhere from 2-3 hours, depending on the type of full set you've booked. Eyelash extension fills take anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes, depending on how long you have waited between fills. Please refer to our website for fill times and select the appropriate reservation.

What is the application procedure like?

The application process should be very calming and relaxing. Many clients fall asleep for the duration of the treatment. Upon arriving, you will lay on our comfortable bed with a neck supporting pillow. A hydrating collagen eye pad will be placed under your eye. This eye pad serves a dual purpose—refreshing your skin while containing the lower lashes and protecting you from tweezers. If you have sensitive eyes or are allergic to our eye pads, we will substitute a gentle microfoam tape under your eyes. You will then close your eyes for the duration of the service while we alternate application between the eyes.

Upon completion of the service, we will apply a product to the lash line that reinforces the bond of the adhesive. We will spray a controlled micro-mist of water molecules to speed up the adhesive curing process. The mist is only a tiny amount and is heavily regulated by our nanomisting device. Make sure you are still keeping your lashes dry for the first 24 hours after application, as too much moisture can cause your lashes to fall out prematurely. After nanomisting, we use a fan on your lashes for 30-60 seconds to complete the drying process. Your eye pads will then be removed, and you may open your eyes to reveal beautiful, luscious lashes!

How should I take care of my eyelash extensions?

No water can come into contact with the eyelash extensions and the eye area for 24 hours after application. For maximum retention, it's best not to shower, swim, visit a sauna, sweat heavily, or wash your face during the first 24 hours. Should you need to use eye drops, extra care should be taken to prevent moisture from coming into contact with the extensions. Sleep on your back as much as possible. Avoid rubbing, curling, or perming your lashes. Do not use glycol or oil-based products on or around your eyes. Remember to wash your lashes daily and after exercise with an oil-free lash shampoo. Clean lashes will provide you with longer lasting results!

Why is it important for me to clean my lashes daily?

When you clean your lashes regularly, you are helping to maintain your proper level of natural oils. Cleansing regularly also helps prevent premature lash shedding. When you skip your daily lash wash, your lash follicles can get clogged with oil, dirt and debris, which can make it difficult for new lashes to grow and can result in infection. Despite this, it’s not uncommon for us to see clients with severe build-up of makeup residue, oil and/or dead skin cells along their lash lines. This is not only unhygienic, but it can also cut into your reservation time. We must make sure your lashes are squeaky clean before performing your service.

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit the spa while wearing eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are intended to simplify your life, and beautify your lashes. We ask that you wait 24-48 hours before visiting the spa, tanning, or getting a spray tan. If you enjoy using a sauna, swimming, or exercising often, you may experience a heavier shedding of the extensions. To maintain the look and fullness of your lashes with this lifestyle, you will need to come into the studio for fills more frequently.

Can I use mascara or wear eye makeup?

For the best retention and results, you should never put mascara on your eyelash extensions. Mascara is very hard to clean, especially if you have volume lashes. Our volume fans are handmade by us during your service. Putting mascara on these beautiful, fluffy fans will immediately clump and close them up.

Makeup with oil may break down the adhesive's bond and cause your extensions to shed faster than normal. However, if you want to wear eye makeup, use only water-soluble and oil-free items (never waterproof!).

What if I no longer wish to wear eyelash extensions?

The extension removal process is fast and painless. Your extensions will be taken off using a gel remover. After being saturated with the remover, the extensions will slide off, leaving your natural lashes healthy and intact. A relaxing lash bath will be provided to ensure you leave with ultra clean natural lashes.
